Aurora Academic Charter School (AACS) wait list applications are made online through Family Zone. If assistance is required with the online wait list application, please email the Wait List Help Desk at email@example.com. No walk-in's please.
The Alberta government has changed the Kindergarten age of entry for the 2020-21 school year. Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before December 31 of the year they start Kindergarten. To be eligible for Kindergarten in 2020-2021, a child must be 5 years old by December 31st.
Applications are completed by initially creating a family profile online through “FAMILY ZONE”, you will arrive at the “FAMILY ZONE” welcome page. This is where you “LOG IN” or “CREATE ACCOUNT”, depending on your requirements. Once logged in, you can enter your child’s information into your account. If assistance is required, please email the Wait List Help Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Families will be contacted in late-February, the year their child is to start school, through to June, using the information provided. A mandatory interview and assessment will be held at Aurora Academic Charter School to assist us in assuring that his/her grade level is appropriate. Interviews and assessments must be completed in person on the date arranged, otherwise the seat will be considered forfeited by the family. No exceptions.
AACS gives priority enrollment to siblings of students who are currently attending. Seats are then offered to families based on intake availability and original application date on a first come first serve basis. Due to low student turnover and high demand, there is a significant waiting period of 5+ years for grades 1 through 9.
Wait list applications expire October 31st of each year. Updates to Family Zone, including the wait list grade and wait list year, must be done every school year by October 31, for as long as a child remains on the wait list. No reminder will be sent out. It is the responsibility of the child’s family to ensure the wait list application is updated and accurate. Once logged into “Family Zone”, the family will have to reconfirm commitment to the wait list and update all mandatory information. Providing false or inaccurate information will impact a family’s position on the wait list.
Wait list application function in Family Zone is subject to
periodic closures for maintenance purposes.
