POLICY CHANGES

START OF SCHOOL YEAR

Thank you to all families for your support in starting off this school year so successfully. There has been an unprecedented amount of change and opportunity, and we are so thankful for your consideration and patience as we make Aurora an even better choice for student learning.

Ian Gray, Superintendent

NOMINATIONS FOR THE AACS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

You may have received an email titled Nominations for the AACS Board of Directors. On Thursday, November 23, 2023, the AACS Board of Directors will host the Annual General Meeting, at which time new directors will be elected or acclaimed.  There are up to six positions available for the 2023-2025 term, and the Board is constantly in search of competent members to complete the team.

If you are interested in running for the Board or would like more information, please contact Zahida Hirani-Saran, our Board Chair, at zhirani-saran@auroraschool.ca.

TRANSPORTATION

This year we have two distinct bus runs: one to the primary school and one to the secondary school. We now have seventeen buses in our fleet and will be adding more as drivers are trained to help handle the load.

With 200 new students riding the bus, we have had a number of challenges in developing routes that ensure optimal ride times. We will continue to work diligently to improve our services for AACS students.

Transportation Committee

AACS is forming a committee to ensure we have transportation services that help our families. If you are interested in joining this committee, please reach out to Lisa Weidel, Transportation Coordinator, at lweidel@auroraschool.ca

STUDENT LEARNING

Dual-Credit Grant

Aurora Academic Charter School has entered into an agreement with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) to provide dual-credit courses to our students. Dual-credit courses are designed to give students a head start on their post-secondary education by earning credits at high school and post-secondary school simultaneously.

POLICY CHANGES

2062 BP: Administrative and Leadership Staffing
